Samsung Solve for Tomorrow - Igniting passion for technology

Previously uncertain about his future path, Dinh Gia Bao, a student in the specialized Informatics class at the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, discovered a passion for programming after participating in Samsung Solve for Tomorrow. Since then, numerous new opportunities have opened up for him.

Priceless lessons and experiences

Bao first learned about Samsung Solve for Tomorrow in 2020, during its second edition in Vietnam, and immediately registered to participate. It was his first opportunity to experience carrying out a project from the initial stages, idea generation, feasibility assessment to actual implementation. However, due to a lack of experience and necessary knowledge, Bao stopped after the first round of the competition.

A year later, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Bao utilized his time at home to acquire new knowledge and observe real-world issues. Thanks to his persistent efforts, he advanced to the finals and won Third Prize in Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2021.

According to Bao, participating in the competition over the years has allowed him to grow continuously. He has learned not only through theory but also from hands-on practice, from peers more skilled than him, and especially from the professional mentors connected by the organizers.

Bao shared: “For me, these lessons and experiences are invaluable, far beyond the competition results. Solve for Tomorrow is not only a playground providing knowledge, experience, and awards, but it also sparked my passion for programming. This motivation helped me pass the entrance exam for the Informatics specialized class at the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences.”

From his personal experiences, Bao encourages other young people to be bold in trying, as the knowledge and experiences gained will surpass what textbooks can offer.

“Thank you, Samsung Vietnam, for giving me and other students the opportunity to nurture a passion for scientific research and equipping us with practical knowledge and skills to achieve our dreams and contribute to the community in the future,” Bao emphasized.

Currently, Bao is also a member of the SST Membership program, organized by Samsung to seek and train outstanding high school students in science and technology across countries. Through this program, Bao continues to learn and gain new development opportunities.

Supporting Vietnam in its journey forward

Bao is one of hundreds of thousands of students who have participated in Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, a technology-focused playground that allows students to apply STEM knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The competition nurtures their technological literacy and creativity in solving local and societal problems.

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow was launched globally by Samsung in 2010 in the United States. In Vietnam, it was first organized in 2019 and has since become an annual creative thinking platform for students aged 12 to 18 in secondary and high schools. By the end of 2024, the program had attracted over 475,000 student and teacher registrations and received nearly 7,500 project submissions.

Following the success of previous editions, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2025 will run for eight months, from March 28 to October 31, 2025, introducing several new features. The competition topics for 2025 focus on sustainable development.

Notably, for the first time, the theme combining Sports and Technology to Change Society (focusing on education and future development) has been included. Also for the first time, training programs under the competition provide students and mentors with knowledge about AI, applications of AI tools, and Design Thinking for problem-solving and idea development. Within the competition, the Solve for Tomorrow on Tour – Spreading Knowledge, Inspiring Creativity initiative will be conducted nationwide across the North, Central, and South regions to promote STEM.

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2025 is expected to attract approximately 160,000 students to participate in online courses, with 2,400 project submissions from secondary and high schools across the country.

The total prize value for this year’s competition is nearly 6 billion VND with many attractive awards. In addition, schools with first-prize-winning teams will receive Samsung sponsorship to build STEM Labs worth 60,000 USD.

GUIDELINES FOR ONLINE EXAM SUBMISSION:

Submission Deadline: Before 11:59 PM on June 15, 2025.
Format: Online submission as per the provided guidelines.
Submission Process:
▪ Step 1: Teams should refer to the detailed guidelines and sample submissions (in Word or PowerPoint format).
▪ Step 2: A team representative must use the online learning account to upload the exam submission.
▪ Step 3: The team selects "Submit Online Exam," fills in the registration information, chooses the appropriate competition category (Category A – Middle School Students; or Category B – High School Students), and uploads the submission.
Valid submissions must adhere to the following guidelines:
▪ The submission file must be named according to the following format:
1. [Category A Middle School]_[Province/City]_[School Name]_[Team Name]
  (Example: Category A Middle School_Hanoi_Giang Vo Middle School_Team ABC)
2. [Category B High School]_[Province/City]_[School Name]_[Team Name]

Eligibility Requirements: Each team member must complete the Online Training Course and receive a completion code before being eligible to submit an entry.
Revisions & Updates: During the Preliminary Round submission period, teams may update their submission. Each submission sent from a registered account on the website www.kientaotuonglai.com.vn is considered one entry. Therefore, teams must resubmit the complete entry in each update and use only one account for communication with the Organizing Committee (OC). If a team wishes to resubmit their entry for the second, third time, etc., the file must be named as follows:

Important Notes:
▪ Each team must use only one account for communication with the OC. The OC will consider only the last submission received before the deadline for evaluation.

Announcement of Preliminary Round Results:
▪ The top 50 teams with the highest scores (including 25 teams from Category A – Middle School and 25 teams from Category B – High School) will be contacted directly via email and phone to participate in the Product Development Round.
▪ The official results will be announced on the website www.solvefortomorrow.vn, expected on July 16, 2025.
